We all love smoking out of bongs. Not only do they make the smoke cooler, allowing you to take bigger rips, but they allow you to fully enjoy the flavor of your cannabis better too.
These days, there are more styles of bongs then you can ever try, but every single one of them has the same flaw. They get gross, really fast. Today, we’ll look at three tricks that will help keep your bong cleaner for longer.
Ashcatcher & Screen Combo
If you want to keep your bong clean, you need to look at how it’s getting dirty in the first place. While there is a lot of resin and tar in the smoke itself, a lot of what gets a bong dirty is always pulling the ash from bowls into the main chamber. This creates a build-up of floating, burnt pieces of flower.
To prevent this, you need an ashcatcher and screen combo. Most people assume that an ashcatcher is enough, but my experience has shown me that there is one more piece to the puzzle and that’s the screen.
The ashcatcher does a lot on its own, but it has a very short downstem. So, often the water ends up getting sucked through into the main chamber. If this happens, make sure to get your bong water levels correct again before taking a hit.
Using a screen will prevent the bowl from pulling through into your ashcatcher in the first place. If you are worried about a screen affecting the flavor of your cannabis, then pick up a glass screen.
Empty the Water After Use
Most of the time, your bong is getting dirty because you don’t empty the water when you are not using it. When you do this, you’re allowing the resin in the water to the up on the sides of the bong.
It’s a pain to empty a bong after every smoke session, only to have to refill it a couple of hours later! It’s worth it, however, if you would ratehr take 15 seconds for preventive maintenance each session instead of having to do a full bong cleaning every week.
Piece Water, RezBlock or Lemon Juice
I’ve been a part of the cannabis community for quite a while now, and what I am about to show you has got to be the coolest innovation I’ve seen to date.
Enter Piece water and RezBlock. Both slightly different from one another, but both accomplish the same goal—they keep your bong water clean!
Piece water is a total solution. Instead of using tap water in your bong, you fill it with Piece Water, and you won’t have to worry about a dirty bong anymore. It’s a proprietary blend of safe and natural ingredients that won’t affect the taste of your hits either.
RezBlock works a little differently. You won’t be filling your bong with it, but rather you’ll be applying drops of this concentration to your tap bong water to prevent bong water resin build up. Made from 420 Science, this is a cheaper alternative to Piece Water that works just as well.
The problem with these solutions is they cost money. And it’s not just a one-time purchase either, but something that you will need to start buying on a regular basis to keep your bongs clean. Luckily for you, there is a cheaper option. Placing a few drops of lemon juice in your bong water will keep your bong clean (not as well as the paid options, though.) and adds a nice flavor to your hits.
Unfortunately, there is nothing that is going to keep your bong 100% clean forever. But there are plenty of steps you can take to keep your bong cleaner longer. While most of them cost money, look at them as an investment. You’ll get to spend more time doing things you love instead of cleaning your bong. Which if you’re anything like me, that means you’ll have more time take hits from the bong!
